If you’re looking for a unique place to eat in Spokane, Frank’s Diner (franksdiner.com) should be added to your list! As you step up into the doorway of Frank’s it is like stepping back in time for a meal in an old train car. Make sure you’re hungry when you go, the portions are large. I recently tried their Crispy Deviled Eggs…they were delicious! There were negotiations at our table over who would get the extra egg or how it could be divided! They contained several things I love to eat-BACON mmmmm, cayenne for a little kick, sriracha aioli, maple syrup for the sweet tooth and of course eggs which were cradled in a nice little pocket of fried panko! Don’t be skeptical, take a chance and try it! I also had Corned Beef Hash and Eggs…yep, that’s a breakfast that I had for lunch. You can order anything from the menu all day, which works out great for families who have one person that wants breakfast, another one lunch, and yet another one dinner. My meal was large enough to feed me for breakfast the next day. The food, atmosphere and staff were all great at the Downtown Spokane location 1516 W. 2nd Ave.
I thought I should update my Frank’s Diner post. Recently I went to Frank’s Diner on highway 2 in Spokane, WA. I get really hungry for cheeseburgers at least once a week (and more often if I’m stressed out!). The night I took this picture, I was super hungry and cheeseburger focused. I had seen some of them come out of the kitchen a couple weeks before when I was eating the hot roast beef sandwich and mashed potatoes (which were soooo yummy and big. I had about 3 meals out of it). Back to the burger…I was sitting at the bar where I could watch the chef make my sandwich. I could hear the sizzle of the beef patty, see and smell the steam rising up from it and the bacon. When the hamburger was the perfect temperature, the chef placed it so carefully on the toasted bun, adding all the other ingredients-lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles and special sauce. I was amazed at how he was able to put it all together and cut it without it going all sideways (like mine always do). I chose the fries as my side and they were also delicious. I was drinking water, but at that point I realized I had some order remorse…a chocolate shake would have been great with this combo. That’s my recommendation if you go to Franks and get a burger and fries. Just go all the way and the shake too!
